I am searching for awning windows with motorized internal shades and an AC-powered opening/closing mechanism. The two windows are side-by-side at the top of a 17ft high vertical wall above the front entry of the house, which puts them out of reach standard length of opening rods. So far I have not found awning windows that offer those options, and a manufacturer of skylights that do offer those exact options will not warranty installation on a vertical wall. Any suggestions / sources for motorized awning windows with shades, or vertically-mounted skylights?

I have sold custom windows for the last 10 years. What you are seeking is common, but expensive. It depends on your budget. I could recommend several different sources. You can also look at: www.BiltBest-windows-and-patio-doors.com. They can do the motorized awnings and you can install motorized shades separate. Ask for the VP sales if you call. Submit a "request for assitance" through the menu and mention "motorized Awnings Post on Building Trades Directory in the comments and someone will contact you.

Very expensive, but they build just this type of thing;

http://www.fenestra-america.com & http://www.zeluck.com

both make custom mahogany windows and will motorize windows.

I remember how nice it was to have skylights with electrical controls when we lived on the water. It was great to enjoy the breezes off the water. The only downside I recall was some leaking during torrential rain.

I am not sure if this site sells exactly what you are searching for, but they do have very nice awnings. I have loved the one I got there, but I didn't get one with vertically mounted skylights.
