Description: The Building & Fire Code Academy, a subsidiary of B & F Technical Code Services, Inc., provides comprehensive and practical education in the administration, application and enforcement of building and fire codes. BFCA encompasses all major model codes and standards of construction disciplines. Additional programs are planned for ancillary municipal services such as zoning, public works and permit coordinating, along with a comprehensive curriculum of code study. In addition to its standard courses, BFCA offers an 11-week Code Enforcement Career Development Program to provide comprehensive training on the codes, including both classroom and field experience. It also offers a four-year, state-approved Plumbing Apprenticeship Program that trains apprentices to become licensed Illinois plumbers. BFCA is an International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) Authorized Provider and an American Institute of Architects/Continuing Education System (AIA/CES) Registered Provider. Students completing courses receive Continuing Education Units (CEUs), contact hours and/or state credit where applicable. Architects completing classes earn Learning Units (LUs). All course qualify for health, Safety and Welfare (HSW) credit. Specific Courses are also approved by individual states.
