Lightning Protection Institute (LPI) -LPI is committed to developing the means of protecting life, property and assuring public safety by extending the use of proper lightning protection systems, as well as promoting the practice of personal lightning safety. Membership Categories- Manufacturers: Those who produce materials used in lightning protection systems.- Dealer/Contractors: Those involved in design distribution, service, supervision and installation of lightning protection systems.- Suppliers: Those employed by companies listed in the above categories.- Professional Members: Those indirectly involved in the lightning protection industry, i.e., architects, engineers, contractors, local, state and general government agencies, etc. who are involved with promoting lightning safety. LPI actively promotes and enforces the highest levels of quality and safety in the design and installation of lightning protection systems through the nationally recognized standard NFPA 780. In addition, LPI requires factory material inspection by accredited testing laboratories (UL) and works in conjunction with these laboratories to ensure that lightning protection systems are installed in accordance with national standards.
